Please be sure that you follow the agent's submission guidelines. Times New Roman, 12-point font is the industry standard for novels.
Here are the guidelines all writers should follow before submitting their work:
Page size should be 8.5" by 11" (normal letter size, A4 internationally), with all margins set at 1.0". Text should be justified flush left, without hyphenation and, if word processed, without paragraph breaks at the end of each line (as may happen when transposing text from emails). We prefer double spaced lines, and our preferred font is Times New Roman (although any clear serif font is acceptable). Twelve point type is standard.
Page numbers should be inserted in the header or footer; this is a good place to put your last name and the book title as well. Chapters should begin on a new page. Poetry, except for series of short poems, should be set so that each poem begins on a new page. Chapter headings and poem titles should be clearly distinguishable through bold and/or font size.
